Eco efficiency and sustainability are important to Totally Modular, we have created a number of partnerships, which allow us to design in the latest Eco technology into the fabric of our buildings. All our 2020 houses have the ability to add any of the eco addons below without having to make any changes to the house design and layout. Because of this forward thinking and the eco fabric of our buildings, it has never been simpler to own an Eco Energy efficient home.
Solar PV & Batteries
Pure Drive Energy
Through are partnership with Pure Drive we can offer energy storage via a battery to work in tandem with solar panels. We have designed both systems into the fabric of our housing and micro-living solutions. Meaning it is easy for you to add these within our factory manufacturing process.
PureStorage energy storage system allows you to store excess solar power in a Hi-Rate 4.8Kwh LiFePo4 battery for use in the evenings when solar production is low.
A 10 year warranty specifically designed for the battery to provide 6000 cycles with 10 years+ usage.
Pure Storage stores excess PV energy during the day using a 4.8Kwh LiFePo4 solar battery. This allows you to increase your utilisation of generated power from 30% up to 80% powering your home from the battery during the evening and through the night until the sun rises. Reducing the need to import energy from the grid.
With predictions of energy costs rising by 37% in the next three years the Pure Storage system will allow you to keep the need to buy energy at a minimum.
INDUSTRY LEADING PERFORMANCE:
- Increase your independence from the grid.
- Provides battery back-up in case of power cuts to your critical home circuits – lights, fridge / freezers.
- Simple Installation
- Inside and outside installation options
- Remote monitoring on your smart phone and tablet devices.
- 10 year warranty.
Via our partnership it has allowed us to utilise Ecotec team of people dedicated to increasing awareness of energy-efficient products and services including Infra-Red Heating, Air Source Heat Pumps, Voltage Optimisation, and Utility Site Services.
After talking to them about or current solution they put forward their range of Infra-Red Heating products from Yandiya distribution UK.
Yandiya manufacture high-quality, eco-friendly, affordable, energy-efficient heating available to homeowners, businesses, and distribution, helping others to lower their heating costs and energy consumption, while providing the highest level of comfortable heating.
There range of Infra-Red panels and towel rails come in a range of shapes, sizes and finishes. Totally Modular have designed in some of their range allowing us to offer this innovative, eco, and cost effective heating solution without any adaption to our houses.
Electric Heating Systems
With our partnership with Pure Drive Energy Totally Modular have been looking at innovative electric heating systems to allow us to utilise the full potential of the Solar PV & Battery system we have designed into our design portfolio.
Totally Modular are pleased to partner with Trust Heating and Ecotec to bring there 21st century solutions to the TM range.
Trust Electric Heating
Trust Electric Heating are industry-leading, electrical heating experts providing innovative, affordable and sustainable heating solutions to homes across the UK.
Trust heating have given us some of their latest range (The NEOS radiators) to put into our demonstration units in Tyseley. Although these have the look and feel of a traditional radiator, they are electric and bring some fantastic Eco and maintenance advantages.
The NEOS is an advanced electric radiator made from aluminium with a compressed soapstone core. The radiator generates radiant and convection of heat at an ideal ratio. The heater has a fluted design to the front which multiplies the radiators effective surface area by five. A flat panel / waved piece of aluminium is placed in-front of the convection flutes which increases the level of convection to dual convection at the front of the radiator.
At the back of the radiator two pieces of aluminium are placed together to give an unaligned dimple effect. This is utilising ‘serpentine convection’ which allows the air to slow down and move left to right keeping the air longer in the radiator which increases the heat. Additionally, the back dimpled panel has small holes inserted to create an additional convection allowing air to be drawn in at a rapid rate.
The core of these radiators contains soapstone a natural product and prolongs the heat during the convection process. Using soapstone means it enhances and prolongs the heat created up to 30 minutes of heat without energy consumption.
The Neos Radiators have ultimate controllability:
- Sensor detects temperature drop & automatic on
- Wireless option – Control multi zone heating
- Superior programming, up to 4 temperature levels per heater
- App Control – multi-zone heating system from your SmartPhone
- Geo Location, reduce energy costs by knowing your location
- Control upto 32 zones
All of this advanced technology allows Trust to offer a 25 Years Warranty meaning, as well as this there is none of the maintenance you would expect with a Gas system, no leaks, no yearly gas boiler servicing, saving money and time.
What is Infra-Red Heating
Infrared heating is a fairly recent addition to the domestic and commercial heating scene. It is emitted from the heater, which then travels unimpeded through the air until it hits an object. The object absorbs the radiation, causing molecules within it to vibrate, producing heat.
If the waves come into contact with humans, they will travel about an inch into the body providing a feeling of deep heat, but even if you are not directly in the way of the waves, any solid body will vibrate when the waves hit them, causing them to radiate heat back towards you.
Infrared heating works by heating the surface area of a room, rather than the volume (as is the case the traditional convection heaters), which means they are heating considerably less to provide the same amount of heat.
Partnering up with Geologic Foundations has not only allowed us to reduce the cost of installing our Homes, with their innovative piling system. But it has also allowed us to utilise the innovative Thermo Screw Pile™ technology
Renewable energy heating from the building foundation system, using Thermo Screw Pile™ technology The Thermo Screw Piles™ foundations Screw piles were first used in Victorian days and now form the ideal foundation system for all modular construction.
They are quick to install, provide laser level accuracy, are entirely concrete-free and are instantly loadable. Installation is achieved without spoil, noise or vibration and, as only
lightweight plant is used, little site remediation is needed. Thermo Screw Piles™ are installed in precisely the same way, using an excavator with a torque motor to rotate the piles into the ground. They are assembled, and pressure tested off-site, so quality control can be assured. We believe them to be the only energy piles that can readily be removed for re-use or recycling.
The integrated heating system
Surplus renewable heat is captured and efficiently stored in the earth beneath the structure by the Thermo Screw Piles™, which act as ground heat exchangers. This heat is automatically recovered by a multi-source heat distribution unit, for dispersal around the building as needed.
